Let’s Go Play: A Children’s Book About Adaptive Equipment and Inclusion

A children’s book that introduces adaptive equipment, or “tools”, while encouraging imaginative play and inclusion. Equipment included in this story are; wheelchairs, glasses, AAC, standers, feeding tubes, trachs, gait trainers, service dogs, hearing aids, orthoses, and face masks!

Authored by Shelby McCarthy, Let’s Go Play sets out to create something that could go to school with her daughter Kennedy (a GSL kiddo!), who uses many of these “tools” herself. It allows Kennedy’s peers to have a loose understanding of why she had these things they may never have seen before, but more importantly, help to spark in their imaginations ways in which Kennedy and these items could be included in imaginative play.
