The Collective Power of Goodness

An important update on the future of Go Shout Love

December 1, 2020 • Josh Veach, Co-Director

GRATITUDE

At every stage in the history of Go Shout Love, risk and uncertainty have always been present. From the first families featured to relaunching after a two year break, nothing has been easy and success never guaranteed.

As the world around us began to shift in March, I honestly feared for the future of Go Shout Love. I feared that in an economic downturn in the middle of a global pandemic, graphic t-shirts might be the first to go in the family budget.

But what was true in the beginning of Go Shout Love remains true today, we believe in the collective power of goodness. While things have been different and we have had to make adjustments, the work of shouting love for these families continues because of every purchase that is made. If you have made a purchase in 2020, or especially if you are one of our monthly shouters, YOU make the difference. You have shown up and shouted love by believing that there’s way more to this than “just a shirt.”

Because of you, we have been able to raise nearly $300,000 for families with kids on rare medical journeys, including over $65,000 in 2020 alone. These funds represent independence for Maddy in the form of a ramp in the backyard…safe transportation for Fletcher through the repairs to the family vehicle…and new opportunities for Luna through therapies not covered by insurance.

The list goes on and on because you also believe in the collective power of goodness.

AN UPDATE

One of the most significant challenges we face is the limitation in the number of families we are able to help each year. I’m really excited to share about a new program we will be launching in 2021 called Shout Your Story!

Shout Your Story will give families the tools and guidance to effectively tell their story on their platforms, advocate and raise awareness for their child, and leverage Go Shout Love apparel to raise funds for items not covered by insurance.

While the details are still being worked out and an official launch schedule is still in the works, we are really excited about the impact this approach will have for so many families. This program will be in addition to our continued work of shouting love for new families each month as we currently do. To receive more information about Shout Your Story, click here to be notified.

AN ASK

In order to make this new program a reality, the time has come for us to officially transition to a nonprofit organization, with a planned effective date of January 1! In addition to our goal of launching Shout Your Story, it is our dream to get to the point where private donations and sponsorships are covering the cost of operations for Go Shout Love so that 100% of sales proceeds could go to our families.

So here is the ask:

If you believe in the work we are doing and are ready to join the collective power of goodness that is Go Shout Love, here are two ways you can help right now:

  1. Click here to make a tax-deductible donation through our Donor Advised Fund called The Do Good Fund at Community Foundation of the Ozarks. This donation will help us with the initial costs associated with becoming a nonprofit and give us a head start on operating expenses for 2021.
  2. Make a purchase (GSL items make excellent Christmas gifts!), or better yet, become a monthly subscriber.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I believe in the work of Go Shout Love. I’ve been changed because of Go Shout Love. I have seen the impact it has on others. There’s no doubt in my mind that the greatest days are ahead of us. And with your help, we’ll see thousands of children’s lives impacted because of the collective power of goodness.

On behalf of Rashele, Jessica, Julie, Paige, Seth, Heather, Nikki, and myself, thank you for your support!

If you have any thoughts or questions, I would love to hear from you at josh@goshout.love.
